Given that Halo has literally hundreds of pieces of art of a whole variety of different forms, it’s incredibly difficult to just narrow it down to one piece. But, after a long time scrolling through various sites looking at as many images as my brain could take before it exploded from awesomeness, I settled on one piece in-particular.
This is the cover of the novel Halo: Cryptum, the first book in Greg Bear’s astoundingly good Forerunner Saga. It just encapsulates everything about the series perfectly – a huge sense of scale, the awe, the mystery of ancient civilisations, the powerful technology, the mixture of nature with artificial structures… Just look at how the two Forerunners are dwarfed by the city that lies before them – cities that could cover whole continents in their era, 100,000 years ago.
The cover art was designed by Nicolas ‘Sparth’ Bouvier, a more complete collection of his gorgeous artwork can be found on his Tumblr page.
